Travel Tips

If you’re planning to visit the Minor Basilica and Parish of Saint John the Baptist during Sunday Mass, it’s best to wear comfortable shoes. The path involves both uphill and downhill walks, and trust me—it’s not the best place for heels. I recall one of my friends slipping while wearing them, and we had to hold her by both arms just to keep her steady. Save yourself the hassle and stick to footwear that’s easy to walk in.Another tip: bring some extra money. The area around the church is filled with food stalls and restaurants offering everything from simple street snacks to hearty meals. The smell alone—grilled treats, freshly baked bread, and other local delicacies—can make your mouth water. It would be such a miss not to try at least one!Lastly, make sure to arrive at least an hour before Mass. Traffic in Taytay can get very heavy, especially in the evening when shoppers crowd the public market. Coming early not only saves you from the stress of rushing but also gives you time to explore the surroundings before the celebration begins.

After attending mass, you won’t have to go far to grab a bite. Just around the church, you’ll find familiar fast-food spots like Jollibee, Mang Inasal, and McDonald’s, perfect whether you're eating solo or with family.
